Enrollment

This is where we teach students skills they need to transform
themselves, others, and our global communities.

ABOUT MADU WALDORF

Madu Waldorf is part of a non-profit-organization and was founded in 2016 as a small parent initiative. After 7 years of pioneering and great effort to establish a Waldorf school, Madu has grown into a school with Kindergarten and Grade 1-7. Our mission is to bring Balinese culture and Anthroposophy (the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner) together. The Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana  strives to integrate our connection to nature, to society and to spirit.

SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY

Madu Waldorf aims to not just be a school, but to build and provide a community. Therefore we aim for families who truly value and support Waldorf education through their home life. Ideally these families are also committed to permanently live in Bali or at least stay in Bali for many years, so we can grow a solid class and school community.

Our school is divided into

CURRENT SITUATION

Madu accepts applications for new enrolments at the beginning of each semester (August and January).  Availability of class places is dependent upon current class sizes and individual student needs.

At the moment Madu Waldorf is almost reaching its full capacity and with the growing number of enquiries, we have to become more strict in the enrolment procedure. Unfortunately this also means we have to disappoint families with the news their child can’t join the school at this moment in time. The health of our teaching staff and the class sizes are of great importance to us in order to keep a healthy balance of quality and quantity within our school.

WAITING LIST

At this moment Madu Waldorf has a waiting list for Kindergarten and for various Grade classes.
A summary of the most important criteria for our waiting list procedure:

  • Our priority is for local Balinese and Indonesian children to receive our education.
  • Our priority is also for families who truly value and support Waldorf education through their home life. These families must also be committed to staying in Bali for many years.
  • We also prioritize children with siblings already attending Madu, and children of Madu staff.

If you wish to enroll in Kindergarten or Grade classes that are full, you can be put on our waiting list. We will keep you regularly updated about the situation and inform you as soon as placements will become available. Please understand that by being on our waitlist we can’t promise or reserve any spots for your child until a placement becomes available and the entire enrolment process is completed.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW

  • Madu Waldorf is registered as a non-formal education center in Indonesia. This means we can’t give any official certification or government documents of completion which can be used for official purposes. It is parents’ responsibility to organize the needed documents if you wish to continue your child’s education in mainstream education in Indonesia or in a foreign country. Our Kindergarten is officially recognized by IASWECE (International Association of Waldorf Early Childhood Education.
  • Madu Waldorf values parents as much as the students, because education is not just the job of the school. That’s why we organize regular events that support your understanding of your child’s development in education. It is expected that you attend. We also ask that your home environment matches the school’s as much as possible.
  • Madu Waldorf has a clear policy on
        • Attendance: only accept long-term Bali residents (minimum 1 school year) and prolonged lack of attendance can lead to cancel your enrollment.
        • Media: no screens and computers are used in the school and we recommend limited screen time at home.
